About This Role:
Cognosos seeks a dynamic individual to oversee the financial and accounting operations for our fast-growing Company. The ideal candidate will have experience in a start-up SAAS company environment in a senior accounting or financial role, and be an excellent communicator with strong financial analytical skills. A successful candidate will be a self-starter with strong business acumen and a natural intellectual curiosity. 

The controller will work closely with the management team to produce financial and other metric-based reports designed to assist in improving our operational efficiency and continued growth. This position requires in-office work 1-2 days per week.

Responsibilities:

• Planning, directing and coordinating all accounting and financial operational functions
• Preparing periodic financial statements and reports for management and other stakeholders as required
• Coordination of external audit with our audit partner
• Preparing and monitoring important business metrics essential to improving and maintaining effective business operations
• Managing the budget process and monitoring performance against plan
• Creating and managing effective cash and business forecasting tools and reports
• Developing and monitoring key business performance metrics including essential SAAS metrics
• Maintaining efficient and effective accounting operations and implementing new processes where needed
• Evaluating and maintaining strong internal control systems to maximize
  protection of company assets
• Evaluating and maintaining the effectiveness of accounting software and its effective coordination with other business management systems
• Overseeing compliance reporting including for taxes and outside investors

Required Skills & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree (MBA a bonus) in Business, Accounting or a related field
• Professional certification, such as CPA, a strong plus
• 8-10+ years of professional accounting experience, ideally for a privately held technology company
