Job Description
Scope of Work:
The Controller is responsible for all finance and accounting functions of Coastal Defense Inc. and Aspen Avionics Inc. (both wholly owned subsidiaries of AIRO Group Holdings, Inc. (βAIROβ)) and their subsidiaries, including, but not limited to financial reporting (Income, Balance Sheet, & Cash Flow statements) on a monthly basis, internal controls, general ledger, monthly close, intercompany, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory management, balance sheet reconciliations, banking, tax, and audits. This role requires an individual who is highly organized and demonstrates great attention to detail. It is expected that the Controller not just execute tasks but identifies issues and actions them, provides useful information through data analysis, and continually works to improve processes. This role has a dual reporting relationship to the AIRO VP & Controllerand the respective Segment Leaders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
β’ Execute accounting in accordance with GAAP from the detail level of creating and recording journal entries to analyzing all required Financial Statements
β’ Develops, updates, and maintains financial policies and procedures, including but not limited to internal controls and inventory management
β’ Develop and perform analysis on data (like actuals vs budget) to identify issues or trends that management can use to take actions
β’ Run the entire monthly close process, including preparing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, reporting and variance analysis
β’ Lead preparation of annual income tax returns including filing of sales/use taxes
β’ Support preparation of annual and interim forecasts
β’ Complete and submit all required external reports to governmental agencies or external vendors, including required banking reports
β’ Oversee AR/AP functions as needed
β’ Lead, plan and coordinate completion of annual/quarterly independent financial audit, auditing of financial statements, bank collateral, state sales/use taxes and 401K
β’ Completes other financial reporting related duties, as assigned by AIRO VP & Corporate Controller and/or of the Training and Advanced Avionics Segment leaders.
Pre-requisite Knowledge, Skills and Education:
β’ 5-years' experience in accounting or related field
β’ Bachelor's degree, major in Accounting, Finance, or another related field
β’ Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred
β’ Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
β’ Effective self-management and project management abilities
β’ Must be a highly organized individual with well-developed planning, analytical, decision-making, and communication skills
β’ Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
β’ Ability to identify issues and take actions or ask questions
β’ Ability to work independently and maintain level of motivation with regular, routine tasks
β’ Excellent Excel skills required
β’ SAP Business One experience preferred
β’ Travel up to 20% of the time
Physical and Mental Requirements:
β’ Ability to sit, walk, or stand for extended periods of time
β’ Ability to lift up to 25 pounds in a safe and prudent manner
β’ Ability to perform work utilizing manual dexterity of the hands to operate a computer
β’ Ability to push, pull, bend, stoop, reach above and below shoulders, and full use of upper extremities
β’ Ability to easily move through an approximately 35,000 square foot warehouse building
β’ Ability to read, write, and understand English
β’ Correctable vision and hearing
