What We Are Looking For:
The Taylor International team is seeking a Controller with extensive experience in construction accounting and a strong ability to lead financial operations.
The Controller will play a pivotal role in overseeing financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting, and compliance to ensure the fiscal health of the company. This position will manage job costing, WIP reporting, cash flow forecasting, and financial analysis for commercial construction projects. Your expertise in construction accounting software such as Sage 300 CRE, Viewpoint, or Procore, along with your ability to streamline processes and enhance financial efficiency, will be instrumental in driving the company's financial success.
The Controller will also foster a culture of accountability and excellence, providing leadership that aligns with the values and mission of Taylor International.
In this role, you will:
• Oversee all daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, job cost accounting, payroll, and fixed assets
• Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Manage job cost reporting and WIP schedules; partner with project managers to track job profitability and budget compliance
• Supervise the monthly and year-end close processes and ensure proper revenue recognition for construction projects
• Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures
• Direct the preparation of budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections, and variance analyses
• Oversee audits, tax filings, and coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions
• Evaluate and implement improvements in accounting systems and software; lead the adoption of technology to improve workflow
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership to support strategic decision-making
• Mentor and manage a team of accounting professionals, promoting continuous learning and professional development
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local financial and tax regulations
What You Need:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA strongly preferred)
• Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role
• Prior experience in the commercial construction industry (preferred)
• Proficiency with construction accounting software (e.g., Sage 300 CRE, Viewpoint, Procore, or similar)
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, job costing, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams, implement process improvements, and work cross-functionally
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• High level of integrity, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
