Compensation:$125,000 base salary + $10,000–$20,000 annual bonus (paid monthly) + full benefits

Position Overview
We are hiring a Controller to oversee all core finance and accounting operations. Reporting to the CFO, you will serve as the right-hand leader in the finance function, responsible for budgeting, financial reporting, compliance, and system improvements. You will manage a lean but capable accounting team and help scale financial processes to support continued growth. This hands-on role requires deep construction accounting knowledge and offers visibility across all departments. The ideal candidate brings leadership experience, operational insight, and the initiative to drive strategic improvements in a high-trust, fast-paced setting.
Responsibilities
• Lead monthly reporting, forecasting, and budgeting by business segment
• Prepare financials, track performance, and support planning for new business initiatives
• Supervise the accounting team, overseeing general ledger, close, and compliance activities
• Manage billing (AIA), accounts payable, lien waivers, and retainage tracking
• Oversee payroll compliance, DOL regulations, and benefits administration
• Improve financial systems, reporting tools, and internal controls
• Lead cash flow forecasting and support treasury functions
• Serve as audit contact and liaison for financial stakeholders
• Partner with executives across operations, HR, and project management
• Optionally take on HR oversight in the future, depending on growth and experience
Requirements
• Progressive accounting/finance experience, including team leadership
• Expertise in construction accounting, AIA billing, and lien documentation
• Strong command of GAAP, tax compliance, and internal control frameworks
• Hands-on experience managing close, reporting, and budgeting processes
• Proven ability to lead and mentor a small finance team
• Process improvement mindset with strong communication and executive presence
Preferred
• CPA certification
• Familiarity with ComputerEase or similar construction ERP systems
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel
• Prior experience in specialty contracting or construction environments
• Exposure to HR or payroll operations
