Controller (Junior)

At Professional Home Health Services, we’re seeking a hands-on Controller to lead the full spectrum of accounting operations. From payables to payroll, month-end to budgeting, you’ll manage the books, guide decisions, and partner with our fractional CFO to help shape the financial future of a growing healthcare business. This isn’t a big team or a siloed role — it’s yours to lead, and we need someone who can handle both the strategy and the spreadsheets. What You’ll Be Responsible For: • Oversee all accounting functions: AP, AR, payroll, general ledger, and compliance • Post and reconcile bank, credit card, and payroll transactions across multiple entities • Lead month-end and year-end close with clean supporting documentation • Prepare consolidated financial statements and reports for leadership • Support audits, tax prep, and maintain compliance with GAAP and healthcare standards • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis • Proactively identify inefficiencies, improve systems, and streamline processes • Own and refine internal controls, documentation, and financial procedures What You Bring: • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience (healthcare or service industries preferred) • Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance (CPA or MBA is a plus) • Proven ability to run a full accounting cycle independently • QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel superuser-level proficiency • Familiarity with healthcare compliance, Medicare billing, or insurance reconciliation is a plus • You’re comfortable being both the thinker and the doer Who You Are: • You want things accurate and on time — always • You can sort through chaos, organize it, and make it scalable • You don’t need layers of direction — just the outcome and the tools • You know how to explain financials to non-financial people • You’re loyal to your process, but open to better ones • You care about getting itright, not just getting itdone Why PHS? • A mission-driven home health provider that’s growing with purpose • Direct access to leadership and a fractional CFO who values your input • Autonomy, respect, and an opportunity to build something that lasts • A tight-knit team that moves fast, cares deeply, and gets things done This role is for the Controller who doesn’t need permission to lead — only the opportunity.
