Jennifer Fukumae is partnering with an established and growing venture capital firm based in Palo Alto that is seeking an Assistant Controller to support and help scale its internal finance function. With over $500M in assets under management across four active funds—and a fifth fund launching soon—this is a critical hire as the firm prepares for its next phase of growth. About the Role: This is a hands-on position for a finance professional with strong fund accounting experience who is ready to take on a high-impact role. Reporting directly to the Founding Partner, the Assistant Controller will work as the key internal finance resource—supporting fund operations and managing relationships with external vendors including the fund administrator, tax advisors, auditors, and a fractional CFO. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a lean, entrepreneurial environment and is eager to grow with the firm by refining systems, supporting infrastructure development, and playing an integral part in future fundraising cycles. Key Responsibilities: Support all fund and management company accounting Assist with audits and tax processes alongside external providers Help maintain reporting to LPs, including capital calls and distributions Monitor cash flow and support capital planning across entities Contribute to the buildout of internal financial controls and processes Prepare internal financial reports and LP-facing dashboards Assist in fund modeling, valuations, and fundraising preparation Partner closely with the Founder and leadership team on strategic initiatives Ideal Candidate: 5–10+ years of accounting/finance experience, with strong exposure to venture capital or private equity Solid understanding of fund accounting, GAAP, and partnership structures Experience coordinating with fund admins, auditors, and tax professionals Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable in a fast-moving, founder-led environment CPA preferred; venture capital or fund operations experience required Strong potential and interest in long-term career growth within the firm Why This Role: Work directly with a high-caliber founder and seasoned investment team Be part of a firm preparing for its next fund raise and long-term expansion Help shape internal finance operations during a pivotal growth stage Excellent path for career advancement in fund finance Collaborative, mission-driven environment with a focused investment strategy Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
