Job Description

Without the strength of the accounting team at Arevon Energy, we wouldn’t be able to offer the industry-leading execution we’re known for. We’re seeking an experienced financial leader to oversee this high-performing team. The ideal candidate will have experience as an accountant in public accounting and/or our industry, preferably in a senior role. As a strong communicator and skilled financial analyst, this person will streamline our financial reporting processes. The Operations controller will also produce thorough financial-status reports for senior management to help improve our operational efficiency and aid in our continued growth.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior management by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data.
  • Guide financial decisions by applying company policies and procedures to current data.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines.
  • Help achieve budgeting goals with proper scheduling, analysis, and corrective actions and reporting of actual performance versus budgets making recommendations to operations management on corrective actions available to achieve improved performance.
  • Help develop and support short- and long-term operational strategies.
  • Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all projects.
  • Oversee and support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity in support of managerial decision making for our Operating portfolio.
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of financial statements.
  • Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and present financial reports and analysis to senior management, board of directors, and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support strategic decision-making and business planning initiatives.
  • Lead and mentor the operations accounting team, providing guidance, coaching, and professional development opportunities.

Experience Requirements 

  • Ten or more years of professional accounting experience.
  • Five or more years of experience as a senior-level accounting or finance manager. 
  • Strong understanding of the renewable industry and financial data analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting standards, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven leadership abilities, with a track record of leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Advanced proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel; experience with NetSuite preferred.
  • Exemplary history of financial project management.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in business, accounting, or related field.
  • Professional certification, such as CPA (certified public accountant) or CA (chartered accountant).
