Interim Controller – Vaco Client (Banking Industry) Vaco is partnering with a financial institution to hire anInterim Controllerto lead their accounting operations. This contract role reports to the CFO and will oversee general ledger management, financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and accounting team leadership. The Interim Controller will guide a team of 3–8, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, overseeing call report preparation, managing audits, and supporting process improvements across the accounting function. This role requires someone who can step in immediately and provide strong leadership and technical expertise in a fast-paced banking environment. Key Responsibilities: • Lead daily, month-end, and year-end close processes • Oversee financial and regulatory reporting, including call reports • Manage AP, fixed assets, reconciliations, and general ledger • Coordinate external audits and regulatory exams • Strengthen internal controls and drive process improvements Qualifications: • 7+ years of accounting experience in banking • 5+ years of supervisory experience • CPA or advanced degree preferred • Expert in GAAP, regulatory standards, and banking operations • Advanced Excel skills Details: • Contract/consulting engagement through Vaco • Onsite or hybrid, based on client needs • Competitive hourly compensation Ready to make an impact?
