Controller/Accounting Manager - $95,000 - $120,000 per year
Job Summary:
TheController / Accounting Managerhas global responsibility for the following functions: accounting, finance, tax, and the overall business operation. This position works with the CEO and the senior executive team to achieve the company’s financial objectives, acting as key financial advisor to the CEO.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced accountant and financial analyst with experience preferably in a distribution wholesale/online retail environment and should have an entrepreneurial mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Essential Job Functions:
• Responsible for financial systems, maintenance of internal controls and accounting policies and procedures, including our outside audit.
• Oversee general ledger and accounting functions and systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements while maintaining accurate financial accounts.
• Direct and supervise accounting functions, which includes financial statement preparation and analyses, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash applications, inventory accounting, and accounting for marketing programs and allowances.
• Oversee the monthly, quarterly and yearly closing process. Review all month-end closing activities including general ledger maintenance, balance sheet reconciliations, and corporate/overhead cost allocation.
• Lead and mentor accounting staff and maintain a good working environment.
• Improve inventory control procedures and measures to ensure accuracy.
• Enhance and/or develop, implement, and enforce policies and procedures of the organization with systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the corporation.
• Develop performance measures that support the company's strategic direction; complete analysis of financial results; develop recommendations to address areas of concern (strategic and tactical).
• Compare sales and profit projections to actual figures and budgeted expenses to actual expenses; make or oversee any necessary adjustments to future projections and budgets.
• Review planning process and suggest improvements to current methods.
• Monitor and supervise tax strategy and planning.
• Develop and utilize forecasting models to predict the financial impact of the organization’s operations and business plans.
• Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools and control systems. Ensure maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures.
• Coordinate audits and proper filing of tax returns with parent company and external accounting firm as needed.
• Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions globally.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance or higher preferred with more than 5 years progressive experience.
