Join our dynamic team and make a significant impact in the world of facility management! We are seeking a skilled and driven professional to take on the role of Control Systems Specialist. In this position, you will play a vital role in the repair, maintenance, configuration, and upgrading of multiple site-wide control systems. As the Business System Owner for prominent systems like Rees Scientific EMS, Siemens BMS, and Metasys BMS, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of our facilities.
About the team:
Our facilities management team is responsible for supporting the operational aspects of our cutting-edge facilities in Cambridge and Seattle. From R&D to Manufacturing and Quality Control laboratories, we ensure smooth operations across the board.
How you’ll spend your time:
As the Control Systems Specialist, you will have a diverse range of responsibilities, including:
- Assume ownership of complex control and monitoring systems throughout the facility, acting as the system owner.
- Execute hardware and software upgrades and replacements for multiple site monitoring systems, maximizing their reliability and capabilities.
- Maintain configuration specifications and manage changes to control systems following approved change control processes.
- Conduct routine and emergency maintenance and repairs to minimize downtime and data loss.
- Supervise hardware and software additions to the Control Systems, ensuring compliance with department standards.
- Collaborate with IT to maintain data storage and reporting functions, optimizing system efficiency and minimizing data loss.
- Engage with stakeholders and partner with IT System Owners to ensure the systems remain current and relevant.
- Maintain comprehensive records and documentation for process control systems, enabling users to leverage their capabilities.
- Reconfigure and reprogram sections of control system software to enhance utility, performance, and efficiency.
- Provide troubleshooting and repair services for instrumentation systems supporting site utility systems, maximizing reliability.
- Offer programming, configuring, and troubleshooting services for multiple microprocessor-based control systems, improving overall operation and efficiency.
- Keep up-to-date instruction manuals, spare parts lists, schematics, drawings, and other relevant documentation to facilitate repairs.
- Assist in reviewing and accepting newly installed and commissioned instrument systems, ensuring proper design and operation.
- Provide instrumentation consulting services to various departments, supporting their daily functions.
Who you are and what you’ve accomplished:
To thrive in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Bachelor's Degree with 3-5 years of experience or Associates with 5-7 years in the electrical or instrumentation engineering field, specializing in the installation, troubleshooting, and repair of process instrumentation and automation systems.
- 3-5 years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing and research/development environments.
- Strong familiarity with cGMP's and the pharmaceutical industry.
- Experience working with environmental monitoring systems like Rees Scientific EMS or Siemens Building Management System.
- Ability to evaluate instrument-related problems and propose effective solutions.
- Self-motivated and capable of handling multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Advanced knowledge of computer-controlled process systems, both hardware and software.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
