About Your Role:
As a contract copy editor for the PEOPLE evergreen team at Dotdash Meredith, you will be the final step in the approval process before an article is published. Your meticulous eye for detail and dedication to quality control will ensure all articles meet our high standards, follow content outlines (if applicable), and adhere to editorial policy and style. You will proofread and make edits to articles for style, grammar, and format. This remote contract position requires a minimum 20-hour weekly commitment during business hours, though days and hours are flexible. The rate for this position is $25-30/hour depending on experience.
About Your Contributions:

• Copy edit articles for style, grammar, tone, structure, and adherence to brand and Dotdash Meredith guidelines
• Fact-check articles to ensure accuracy
• Ensure the content puts the reader first while meeting the Dotdash Meredith standard for quality
• Load articles into the Dotdash Meredith proprietary content management system so it is free of formatting errors and typos

About you:

• 4+ years of copyediting experience
• You consider yourself "nit-picky." You know the difference between an en-dash and an em-dash
• Fully versed in AP Style
• Easily adopts an established brand voice, and adheres to strict brand and style guidelines like a pro
• Comfortable working in a content management system and can work quickly, independently, and accurately
• Excellent communicator who is comfortable giving positive and negative feedback
• Background in entertainment and celebrity content is a plus

Pay Range: $25.00 to $30.00 per hour.
The pay range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position and may change in the future. Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Dotdash Meredith's total compensation package for employees. Other compensation may include annual bonuses, and short- and long-term incentives.
