Core Systems Administrator

ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT The Core Systems Administrator is primarily responsible for managing and administering a Unisys Mainframe system which serves as the home for the core banking system for the Financial Institution. The incumbent will participate in designing, deploying and managing storage, backups and recovery of the core system; which includes Unisys MCP, and the system storage array (Dell-EMC) and the other ancillary systems. The incumbent will be responsible for managing all aspects of the mainframe system. The incumbent will be expected to provide technical support to other members of the ITO Core System Operations team aligned with VyStar Excellence. In addition, he/she will ensure optimum system performance through established and periodic review of metrics and other performance data. The position requires strong technical skills with Unisys technologies and is an important role in ensuring system and data confidentiality, integrity and availability. This position has technical on-call and project responsibilities that will require occasional evening and weekend work.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

• Maintains the integrity of the Unisys DMSII databases. This includes the use of DBA Tools to monitor system databases and utilization.
• Obtain core servicing application knowledge of updating, non-updating programs, dependencies, and card options.
• Analyzes and optimizes the performance of the system and its peripherals. Recommends upgrades, architectural improvements and growth strategies to management.
• Ensures all daily, weekly, and monthly back-up, batch, and other critical processing is completed according to service levels and expectations.
• Creates job programs, using the Unisys workflow language, to manage files and program runs.
• Improves the production and test environments by performing MCP system upgrades and applying Unisys interim corrections as needed.
• Performs Unisys Communication Management (COMS) configuration and maintenance to add/modify stations.
• Applies security patches and updates to the core system, storage infrastructure and ancillary systems to address and prevent security vulnerabilities
• Maintains Unisys Enterprise Output Manager jobs for core servicing system output and print output.
• Performs scheduling changes for both the production and test systems for queues and job scheduling application.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Required:

• Knowledge of Unisys mainframe operating environment and utilities including ClearPath Software Series Log Analyzer, DMSII, and Security Center.
• Knowledge of systems tuning techniques such as messaging, database organization and disk I/O, both physical and logical.
• Knowledge and good decision making skills concerning security issues, incident handling, system design, and disaster recovery.
• Expert experience designing and supporting HA environments.

Highly Desired:

• Experience working at a financial institution and/or administering a core banking system
• Experience with core financial application - preferably FIS' MISER Core System
• Knowledge and ability to effectively program utilizing ALGOL, COBOL or other equivalent high-level computer programming languages.
• Experience with many of the following technologies: VMWare, Java, XML, COMS, DMSII, SURE, DNS, VPNs, IPSec, Firewalls, REST, Web services, LDAP, SSH, and X509 digital certificates.
• Experience with ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) processes

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Required:

• Minimum of 5 years' experience systems programming and system integration.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university with major coursework in computer engineering, computer information systems, management information systems, or a closely related field.
• Additional years of related experience in the field may be substituted for formal education.
