Cost Accountant

We are presently looking for a Cost Accountant / Operations Finance Analyst who will be responsible for reduction of financial waste and maximizing profits in our US business. Main duties include scrutinizing manufacturing expenses, cost of goods sold and inventory levels and providing appropriate analysis to various levels of the organization in order to provide transparency and improve processes and profitability. Positions will also assist with capital expenditure requests and analysis, as well as budget/forecast preparation with the operations leadership. This position will report directly to the Finance Director for the site. This position will be located in Gaithersburg, MD.

Along with manufacturing and supporting functions it also includes Research and Development with a total headcount of over 100 persons. With our US activities being one of the global market leaders for microwave curing systems, we have also a wide array of products including infrafred emitters and systems, UV lamps and systems as well as lamps for optics and analytics.

Your responsibilities:

Operations

• Tracks and explains key Operations metrics including performance vs. budget and YoY;
• Analyzes, tracks and understands costs of products manufactured at site. Conducts meetings to review margins/costs;
• Variance analysis and cost center level variance driver commentary which provides transparency and drives process improvement in organization;
• Calculates, prepares and presents inventory reserves;
• Ops and ERP special projects / enhancement;
• Leads standard cost refresh for DL + OH rate updates and significant product-level variances (material, yield, routing);
• Operations budget inputs (e.g. costs, CapEx, DL hrs.);
• Leading role in cycle counts and annual physical inventory count.

Finance Accounting, Taxation

• General accounting functions including month end close; general ledger account analysis, corrections, and reconciliation; month-end accrual processing and cash and banking processes;
• Prepare financial data for external parties, including tax, insurance and auditors.

Your requirements:

• Master or bachelor's degree in finance or accounting, Economics, Finance, Data Analytics or related field;
• 5+ years of previous experience in accounting, financial planning and information analysis preferred;
• Manufacturing and product costing experience required;
• Strong accounting knowledge and understanding of GAAP and accounting policies;

• Knowledge and experience in SAP required;
• Expertise in Microsoft Excel required;
