Cost Accounting Manager

The Cost Accounting Manager is a key financial role responsible for overseeing and managing the cost accounting function within an organization. The role involves analyzing costs, establishing cost standards, monitoring performance against those standards, and providing insightful analysis to support effective decision-making. The Cost Accounting Manager works closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and management, to optimize costs, improve profitability, and enhance overall financial performance.

The role:

• Analyze manufacturing costs, including direct materials, direct labor, and overhead, to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Develop and maintain cost accounting systems, processes, and procedures to capture, track, and report cost data.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop cost standards, cost estimates, and budgets for new and existing products or services.

• Oversee inventory valuation and control processes, ensuring accurate recording and reconciliation of inventory transactions.
• Implement and maintain inventory costing methodologies, such as standard costing or activity-based costing, to provide meaningful cost information.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify cost reduction opportunities, process improvements, and operational efficiencies.
• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting principles, regulations, and internal controls related to cost accounting.

The candidate:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; a master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CMA) is preferred.
• Proven experience in cost accounting, preferably in a managerial or supervisory role.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and identify trends or anomalies.
• Proficiency in cost accounting principles, practices, and systems.
• Advanced knowledge of Excel and proficiency in financial modeling.
• Familiarity with ERP systems and cost accounting modules.
