Costello Engineer

The Role:

Halcyon’s goal is to deliver an anti-ransomware solution that breaks new ground as to what a security product can deliver.  Aligned with this goal, Halcyon is looking for an experienced engineer to implement mechanisms that allow Halcyon’s product to provide situational awareness regarding third party software.  This intelligence will then be used throughout the product in ways that allow Halcyon to protect its customers from the threat of ransomware.

Responsibilities:

• Write code that can be loaded into third party software, instrument the software, and   communicate telemetry over IPC channels

• Diagnose the code and create performance enhancements or improvements when the code incurs unacceptable overhead or when incompatibilities are identified

• Contribute to and follow Coding Style guidelines

• Communicate with other developers and teams to ensure that the component works well within the product’s architecture

Skills and Qualifications:

• Ability to develop high-quality code in C++

• Familiarity with one of more hooking libraries (Microsoft Detours, EasyHook, Nektra Deviare, Mhook, MinHook, LetsHook)

• Knowledge and experience with Windows API, Windows Inter-process Communications Mechanisms, Windows Security Model, Portable Executable format, Windows Synchronization Primitives, and OOP / GRASP / SOLID / C++ Core Guidelines

Bonus Skills and Qualifications:

• Knowledge of additional languages (Rust, Python, Scala)

• Familiarity with Keystone Engine, Capstone Engine, Unicorn Engine

• Experience with light reverse engineering/debugging, the likes of which would be required to use an undocumented API
