General Description / Primary Purpose
Work performing housekeeping duties including cleaning restrooms, lounges, student apartments, common-use areas, carpet and tile floors.
Job Functions

This position is designated as a Tier 2 respondent for designated campus emergencies & events. In the event of a declared campus emergency, the position incumbent will make every effort to return to campus when directed.
Departmental Requirements
• Knowledge of disinfecting procedures, complex new chemical cleaners and their safe use, complex new floor cleaning machines, and pressure washing machines.
• Ability to operate and maneuver high speed buffers and scrubbers
• Ability to understand University rules, regulations, policies and procedures
• Ability to communicate information effectively, in English, both verbally and in writing
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
• Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, and walking significant distance between and within buildings on campus
• Ability to push, lift or move loads of at least 35 pounds (bags of trash, cleaning carts, buffers, scrubbers, cleaning supplies, etc.)
• Ability to carry, erect, climb and maneuver on ladders and/or scaffolds
• Ability to perform duties within extreme temperature ranges between interior and exterior of the buildings
• Visual ability, corrected, to observe dangerous situations in the work area (such as wet floors) in order to redirect people to avoid injuries

• Willing to work in an environment requiring strong emphasis on providing superior customer service in conformance with the University’s mission and values.
• Housing Operations is an integral part of the Division of Student Affairs, and as such, is measured by its ability to successfully interact with students and to assist in their individual needs and concerns. To this end, the Custodial Worker will often be required to demonstrate a caring and patient attitude, utilize conflict resolution skills, and to ensure that every effort is made to create satisfied students.
Position will be Friday to Tuesday, with Wednesdays and Thursdays as days off.
Required QualificationsCompletion of ninth (9th) grade or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Some positions may require possession of a classified driver’s license appropriate to a type of vehicle operated.
