  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Incumbent may also be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally controlled facilities.
  • Must be willing and able to work weekends, and holidays.
  • Required standing and walking on hard and carpeted surfaces with some bending, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling of items. The wheeled utility cart can weigh up to 269 pounds.
  • Works is usually performed indoors in areas that have adequate heat, light, and ventilation. Exposed to dirt and disagreeable odors, and to skin irritations from strong cleaning solutions.
  • Care is required to avoid serious injury when working on ladders to clean hard to reach places and when moving furniture or using powered equipment.
  • Must meet the physical requirements of the position

Qualifications

1. Prior work experience that provided the knowledge, skills and ability to perform the duties listed above to include the ability to use and maintain the tools and equipment of the custodial trade.
2. Ability to keep the assigned work area neat, clean and safe.
3. Must possess good customer service skills in order to interact with people.
4. Ability to stand and walk on hard and carpeted surfaces.
5. Ability to bend, lift, carry, push, and pull items.

Preferred is responsible work experience in the hospitality industry that demonstrated the ability to perform the duties as stated above with minimal supervision.

PCS Costs

FWS Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position.
  • All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee. Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800.

  • Foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid.
