Custodian - Facility Support

OPEN UNTIL FILLED Location: Facility Support / Maintenance Work Schedule: 260 Days Work Type: Regular Full-Time Exempt: No Pay Grade: CO-1 REASONS TO JOIN NEISD EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: None (No Diploma or Degree Required) High School Diplomas and college/university degrees must be obtained from an accredited program or university approved by the United States Department of Education and the Texas Education Agency. PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY: Maintains a safe and healthy academic and professional environment for students, teachers and administrators. Responsible for maintaining classrooms, offices and outdoor areas to ensure a clean and healthy setting. ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Uses proper techniques with the cleaning inside/outside of District buildings, which includes floors, carpet, walls, glass windows, ceilings, water gutter and patio/walk areas. 2. Uses proper techniques with grounds maintenance, which includes parking lots, fence lines, playground area and equipment. 3. Uses proper techniques in moving equipment, furniture and supplies weighing up to fifty pounds and asks for assistance with items weighing over fifty pounds. 4. Uses safe techniques in light maintenance tasks such as painting, changing of globes, installing dispensers, and adjusting lockers. 5. Uses safe and proper work/cleaning techniques including the usage of all inside power equipment needed to support program. 6. Maintains and properly uses personal protective equipment - Reports all accidents to the Head Custodian. 7. Assists with special projects, duties, as requested/assigned by the Head Custodian, facility administration or the Assistant Director of Facility Support. 8. Maintains confidentiality of information. 9. Reports to work on time every day. 10.Performs additional duties and responsibilities as may be assigned. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: • Successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination • Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building and grounds maintenance • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals • Ability to understand instructions and communicate • Ability to lift 100 pounds with assistance • Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies TRAINING REQUIREMENTS: • Basic Training Provided by North East Independent School District (NEISD) • Training provided by Campus Head/ Assistant Head Custodians as required throughout the year PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Additionally, the individual must pass a pre-employment physical examination to include vision, hearing, alcohol and drug testing. Employees are required to wear all protective equipment when operating machinery or for heavy moves. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; and vibration.
