Job Description
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Data Analyst supports the organization by providing data visualizations, reports, and consultation to departments so they can gain performance insights and make data informed decisions relating to operational performance.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop and enhance data collection and reporting methods utilized throughout BGCAA to ensure integration with key system.
• Provide guidance on data collection standards and best practices to ensure data integrity in the areas of security, completeness, and correctness.
• Export data from various organizational databases including but not limited to Microsoft Access, Workforce Ready, and Blackbaud.
• Cascade organizational performance metrics through organizational, departmental, and activity level plans.
• Produce regular scheduled organizational performance reports and data visualizations suitable for a variety of audiences.
• Provides input to the development of organizational performance metrics and outcome metrics based on research and current trends.
• Respond to ad-hoc requests for organizational performance data.
• Provide consultation to departments on data insights as related to operational performance and outcomes.
• Provide training to BGCAA staff on data-related topics, including but not limited to data literacy, excel proficiency, and database functionality.
• Research tools, frameworks, and mechanisms for data analytics.
• Manages the implementation (i. e., testing, issues resolution) of new systems or modifications.
• Maintains a professional and role-model persona.
• Oversee the management technology-based assets including maintaining an accurate inventory, identifying technology needs, facilitating condition assessment, and the processing and distribution of new technology to staff and youth.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide support to the Chief Outcomes and Training Officer in the development of organizational processes.
• Provides support to the Chief Outcomes and Training Officer related to goal cascading, communication, and guidance.
• Provides support to the Chief Outcomes and Training Officer to create products, host workshops, provide consultation etc. for all stages of the organizational continuous quality improvement (CQI) cycle.
• Provides support to the Chief Outcomes and Training Officer to host operational performance review meetings.
• Provides support to the Chief Outcomes and Training Officer with organizational risk management including the reporting and escalation of risk throughout the organization and the development and maintenance of an organizational risk register to track, mitigate, and build contingency plans for risk at the strategic level.
• Provides support to Program Services staff to develop and implement programmatic goals and processes to facilitate the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes.
• Supports the organization in the development of logic models.
• Informs the Executive Leadership Team with performance data, information and reports that enable them to make informed strategic decisions.
• Attends staff meetings and training sessions as prescribed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Associate degree or equivalent work experience with a strong background in technology projects, data analysis and statistics.
• Background/experience in computer science and data information systems a plus.
• Comprehensive analytical skills.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to speak publicly, communicating information to a variety of audiences.
• Must pass background check, reference check, and drug test.
• Exemplary written and spoken communication skills.
• Must be able to work and interact professionally.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Three or more years of experience, including working with data and managing large databases. Requires experience with both quantitative and qualitative data.
• Superior ability to utilize full Microsoft Office Suite to manipulate and analyze data.
• Experience with Microsoft Power BI strongly desired.
• Exposure to and understanding of continuous quality improvement (CQI) cycles.
• Experience in out-of-school time programming.
• Advanced degree or additional training certifications.
• Experience with asset management / inventory tracking.
• Demonstrates dependability, accountability, and cooperation.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Preferred ability to stand for long periods of time.
• May occasionally transport materials (approximately 30-40 lbs.)
