Position: Data I/O Technician
Location: Santa Monica, CA - Hybrid
*Pay Range: $25.00 - $30.00 USD hourly
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Data I/O Technician will send, receive, and distribute digital elements used in Film & Television Post-Production via electronic transmission methods or physical media such as hard drives, data tape, & optical discs. They will archive and retrieve data to (and from) off-line tape storage and do quality assurance of Digital Intermediate files.
MAIN DUTIES:
The Data I/O Technician will work closely with our in-house production teams to receive, log, track, and manage files needed throughout the VFX pipeline. The candidate will send, receive, and distribute files using Aspera and web-based file transfer methods. The ideal candidate will be able to archive/retrieve data to the off-line tape library and perform quality assurance tests of Digital Intermediate files. In addition, the candidate will be able to communicate inbound / outbound file deliveries within multiple departments to ensure the timely completion of work. 
- Maintain logs of completed work orders and inbound files.
- Identify and troubleshoot network and hardware discrepancies.
- Receive, log and track all materials and communicate with production teams on materials received and delivered.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU BRING:
The ideal candidate will have prior experience in Computer/ Information Science, Media, Communications or related field, as well as prior experience with D.I., editorial, or sound files in a Film/ TV Post-Production environment. They will have the ability to navigate proficiently in a Linux/Unix shell, execute commands, & write simple scripts, and possess strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Additional desired skills include:
- Working knowledge of Aspera and web-based file transfer methods.
- Working knowledge of various file formats used in Film & Video post-production.
- Familiarity with Windows, Mac OS X, Linux.
- Excellent attention to detail, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task under pressure with minimal supervision.
- Able to prioritize and meet departmental goals.
- Availability to work overtime.

*The listed pay range represents the lowest to highest range that we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, local currency exchange rates, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, applicable law, and business or organizational needs.Â
The benefits for eligible part-time employees working 25 or more hours per week and full-time employees in the US include a comprehensive package of health, retirement, and insurance benefits and paid time off. The benefits for eligible project hires and part-time employees working less than 25 hours per week in the US include retirement, select insurance benefits, and where required by law, health benefits. For roles filled in Canada and other territories, local benefits plan offerings will apply.
