Data Science Team Lead

Fairmarkit is looking for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer / Team Lead to join our Data Science team. The individual in this position will operate at the intersection of product and technology, addressing some of our customers' most critical challenges and delivering ML/AI capabilities that enhance Fairmarkit’s product suite.

In this role, you will leverage our extensive spend data — encompassing hundreds of billions of dollars to date — to develop impactful solutions. You will be responsible for all aspects of the development cycle, including:

• Leading the Data Science team
• Collaborating directly with product teams to identify and formalize business needs
• Identifying, collecting, analyzing, and transforming data to address specific problems
• Prototyping new models and developing detailed integration plans for their incorporation into existing business processes
• Defining, collecting, and analyzing key success indicators
• Communicating approaches and results to internal and external stakeholders

We are seeking a results-oriented individual with proven experience in delivering ML/AI solutions in production. This person should have expertise in NLP, recommender systems, and bonus points if they are well-versed in the latest advancements in LLMs and generative AI. It is crucial that this individual can clearly articulate the business impact of their previous efforts.

Examples of projects at Fairmarkit include:

• Applying NLP and learn-to-rank models to understand customer requests and deliver best-in-class supplier recommendations
• Building graph models that enable customers to expand their supplier relationships and discover new relevant suppliers for sourcing
• Developing ML models that parse and analyze large amounts of unstructured documents, deploying them in human-in-the-loop procurement processes such as contract review and proposal evaluation
• Initiating R&D projects
• Working with fellow engineers to build out parts of the MLOps infrastructure, enhancing development velocity for the entire team
