Data Scientist - Auto Finance

About the Role

Caribou is looking for a data scientist with 5+ years of experience in data science, quantitative modeling or machine learning. As a data scientist, you will partner with cross functional teams to deliver model solutions to credit acquisition initiatives. You will create and maintain the code, models and documentation and investigate issues and opportunities. In addition:

• Present results to peers, leadership and partners
• Work cross functionally with teams to explain key performance drivers 
• Develop process to validate and backtest models 
• Incorporate testing into models for recommendations to improve initiatives

About You

As a data scientist, you have experience working with statistical techniques such as regression, boosting, GLM and random forest. You are fast and effective at problem solving and able to identify model solutions to business problems. In addition:

• A degree in a quantitative field, preferably computer science, math, economics, statistics, finance, or engineering
• 5+ years of experience in a data science role in the technology or finance space
• Experience developing model solutions in financial services
• Experience working in cloud ML environments (GCP, AWS, Azure, VertexAI, etc.) 
• Experience in SQL and Python, including key data science packages (Scikit-learn, XGBoost, Pandas)
• Demonstrated ability to explain and visualize complex data science techniques to non technical audiences
• The ability to break down and solve large unstructured problems
• Independent thinker and self starter
