POSITION SUMMARY:

The Application DBA is the principal database applications architect and an expert technical resource for database applications. Under general direction, the Application DBA reviews, evaluates, designs, implements, maintains, and directs all application database services for FULLBEAUTY Brands.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Identifies data sources, constructs data decomposition diagrams, provides data flow diagrams and documents the process.
• Implement and verify backup and recovery procedures. This includes Business Recovery concerns.
• Provide day-to-day database support for the IDMS environment. This includes performance testing the applications. As time permits, other database duties will be added, such as DB2, Oracle and / or Netezza.
• Assist with troubleshooting of system and application performance related issues and recommend fixes. Proactively tune databases and workloads.
• Define Database performance service levels and ensure that critical database systems are optimally available as defined in the SLAs.
• Coordinates with technical team during technical architecture design, development and delivery of product changes and enhancements. Reviews database designs to ensure all technical and business requirements and standards are met.
• Maintains confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the network.
• Participates in the continuous process improvement.
• Work collaboratively with multiple teams of developers, analysts, project managers, and QA personnel to develop and support enterprise-level applications.
• Research new tools, technologies, and techniques and provide recommendations and best practices.
• Act as the gatekeeper for all database and script changes for production promotion following the Change Management process.
• Ability to provide 24/7 IDMS application database support for FULLBEAUTY Brands. This includes on-call support during off-hours.
• Perform other duties as assigned. This may include special projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in a computer related field or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years' experience as an IDMS DBA or experience with mainframe database administration software specific to CA-IDMS. Understanding of DB2, ORACLE, Netezza, SAS and/or RACF a plus.
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills; very good knowledge of IDMS Systems Programming, backup/recovery procedures, fine tuning performance utilities, and reporting utilities.
• Ability to organize and prioritize workflow and projects.
• Strong PC skills (Windows environment, MS Office, etc.).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to create and maintain a professional learning environment.
• Excellent z/OS Mainframe skills, including but not limited to the following:
  • RACF
  • TSO or ROSCOE
  • COBOL
  • z/OS 1.11 or greater -- including JCL and Utilities
