The Role
SimplePractice maintains a host of current and leading edge database technologies and is currently seeking an AWS Database Administrator (DBA) to join our growing Infrastructure and DevOps team. This person will utilize their AWS cloud computing expertise to meet the needs of developers and customers across our Engineering, Data, and Product groups, using cloud native tools. The ideal candidate has experience in a DBA role currently and has strong desires to learn all the databases in AWS.
Responsibilities
We are looking for candidates who are accountable, passionate, assertive, proactive, open & honest, results oriented, and adaptable. Each new day represents a new challenge that will give you exposure to new technologies, software, and people and will involve a range of responsibilities to include:
- Develop solutions using cutting edge AWS database technologies
- Conduct research on differing approaches to data storage and access in AWS
- Knowledge of AWS Database Migration Service
- Learns all aspects of AWS Databases and storage patterns to include, Amazon Aurora, Relational Database Service (RDS), Redshift, and Elasticache
- Solve issues by designing, developing, testing, and deploying software solutions
- Partner with full stack development teams to create databases in AWS using a DevSecOps mindset and principles
- Develop data migration plans to migrate legacy on-premises databases into AWS data stores
- Work on indexing, replicating and performing disaster recovery services across multiple AWS regions and accounts
- Writing, designing, testing, implementing and maintaining database applications using SQL or other database programming languages
- Create architecture and develop modular software components related to existing and new databases
- Monitor system performance metrics to identify potential risks/issues
Desired Skills & Experience
- Hands on experience with Amazon Redshift
- Experience with MySQL
- Current hands on working knowledge of AWS Databases such as RDS, Redshift, Aurora.
- Experience with Ansible, and Terraform.
- Experience or interest in Kubernetes in AWS
- AWS Certified SysOps Administrator Associate or Professional (preferred)
- Interest in being involved internally and growing with a team
- Experience working in an remote-first, Agile environment.
- Excellent leadership, peer management, and communication skills
Base Compensation Range
$90,000 - $145,000 annually
Base salary is one component of total compensation. Employees may also be eligible for an annual bonus or commission and equity. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay.
The above represents the expected base compensation range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we’ll consider many factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors.
