Database Administrator

We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator for our DBA team. You are passionate about technology and eager to learn and keen to stay challenged. You will be working with the latest Microsoft and Azure Technologies in a fast paced environment releasing to production several times per day.

This is a hybrid role, joining a distributed team, supporting multiple high availability SQL Server instances, Azure SQL databases, Cosmos databases across multiple environments.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain database systems of high availability and quality.
• Manage and maintain backups of databases.
• Ensure databases are at optimal performance.
• Continuous review of queries from applications with a view to optimising.
• Continuous review of indexing and statistics on key production databases.
• Continuous review and planning of data archiving strategies.
• Provide proactive and reactive data management support and training to development teams accessing databases.
• Determine, enforce and document database policies, procedures and standards.
• Perform regular tests to ensure data security, privacy and integrity.
• Monitor database performance, changes and patching.

Requirements

• Proven experience in a similar role, ideally 5+ years.
• Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in IT or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of SQL DB data backup, recovery and security.
• Strong track record of database design, documentation and coding.
• Familiarity with entity framework generated queries and advantage.
• Partner with development team and provide guidance/patterns/practices on how to construct data access queries from application code.
• Experience of SSIS, CDC and reporting tools such as SharePoint/Looker and working with BI/Reporting teams to control access to data.
• Proven problem solving skills.
• Outstanding communication skills

Please note - This role will entail out of hours support responsibilities, shifts and weekend cover.
