alliantgroup is currently in search of a full-time Database Administrator to support strategic projects and to maintain and improve the performance of our existing MS SQL and Azure infrastructure, while providing superb customer service. The ideal candidate will have experience maintaining and deploying to SQL and Azure applications and ETLs, excellent SQL skills, performance tuning, as well as being responsible for the health, integrity, and maintenance of the databases in a high availability environment.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring performance and managing parameters to provide fast response to front-end users and other members of the IT Applications and Business Intelligence teams.
  • Installing and testing new versions of the DBMS
  • Maintaining data standards, including adherence to GDPR
  • Writing database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary
  • Controlling access permissions and privileges
  • Developing, managing and testing back-up and recovery plans
  • Ensuring that storage and archiving procedures are functioning correctly
  • Capacity planning
  • Working closely with IT project managers, database programmers, and report developers
  • Communicating regularly with technical, applications, and operational stuff to ensure database integrity and security
  • Archiving data and maintaining appropriate log and database growth
  • Owning, tracking and resolving database related incidents and requests and resolving incidents within SLAs
  • Reviewing service related reports on a daily basis to ensure service related issues are identified and resolved within established SLAs
  • Responding to database related alerts and escalations and working with database engineering to come up with strategic solutions to recurring problems

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field required
  • Experience with SQL server tools required
  • Ability to detect and troubleshoot SQL Server related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention
  • Strong knowledge of backups, restores, recovery models, database shrink operations, DBCC commands, clustering, database mirroring, and replication
  • High sense of ownership of the problems and requests assigned
  • Proactively escalate any issues that cannot be resolved within the established timeframes
  • Knowledge of Azure a plus
  • At least 3-5 years of hands on DBA experience required
  • Knowledge of Salesforce is a PLUS
  • Certifications are a PLUS
  • Friendly presence and helpful attitude; good interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to provide support over the phone or in person while always maintaining a professional demeanor
  • Good problem solving skills; ability to visualize a problem/situation and think abstractly to solve it
