Job Description:
LOCATION
Hybrid work from either our Jacksonville, FL or Atlanta, GA office is required with flexibility to work remote up to 2 days per week.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide strategic engineering leadership to drive technology improvements
- Take ownership of projects to ensure successful implementation including Tech-Stack upgrade efforts
- Foster relationship and act as a technical liaison between the DBA Team and the Lines of Business
- Performs backup and recovery on Database Management Systems, configures database parameters and prototype designs against logical data models, and defines data repository requirements, data dictionaries and warehousing requirements
- Optimizes database access and allocates/re-allocates database resources for optimum configuration, database performance and cost
- Ensures service level agreements are met for internal and external clients
- Provides status reports that detail issues for escalation to management
- Performs configuration, scripting, analysis, installation, monitoring, administration and tuning for database management systems
- Performs data analysis to provide management with timely and accurate information and predict future requirements
- Develops, implements and tests database backup and recovery policies and procedures.
- Creates and maintains documentation for database policies, procedures, and processes.
- Performs/schedules routine maintenance on databases to keep them running at peak performance.
- Monitors database performance, availability, and capacity
- Review database storage utilization to ensure proper whitespace allocations
- Review and develop trend analysis for incident remediation and prevention
- Participates in continuous business process redesign to improve internal operations
- Interfaces with user departments remotely and on-site to assist in the implementation of work requests and provide operational support
- Troubleshoots issues and recommends solutions
- Research and evaluate new RDBMS for possible implementation
- Performs other duties as required
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience
- Requires nine (9) or more years of experience working with various database management systems in database design, testing, implementation, maintenance and administration in a multiple platform environment
- Required to participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation
- Expert level knowledge of SQL Server database management systems (2012, 2014, 2017, & 2019 [SQL 2022 is a plus])
- Expert level knowledge SQL performance and tuning
- Expert level knowledge of Microsoft GEO-Clustering and Always-On Availability Groups in local and geographically dispersed data centers
- Extensive knowledge of task automation
- Strong database design and analysis skills
- Knowledge of backup and recovery operations for database management systems
- Knowledge of database encryption such as Always Encrypted, Protegrity, TDE, and TLS
- Knowledge of OS, storage, and network layers for troubleshooting purposes
- Knowledge of relational database concepts and terminology
- Ability to monitor and tune databases and instances
- Ability to maintain and monitor availability, security, and integrity of databases
- Ability to focus on production and customer needs and deliverables
- Ability to adapt to the use of new software tools as they are acquired or adopted within IT
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must be self-motivated, a team player, and have a strong track record in customer satisfaction
- Demonstrated experience with successful system and project implementations
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Knowledge of PowerShell Scripting and Automation
- Knowledge of UNIX/Linux platforms
- Knowledge of AWS - RDS SQL
- Knowledge of Microsoft Azure RDBMS
- Knowledge of Cloud SaaS RDBMS
- Knowledge of Ansible, Tower, and AWX automation
- Knowledge of OLA Hallengren maintenance plans
- Experience with scripting languages
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment with minimal supervision
- Ability to learn and apply new skills in a constantly changing technical environment
