Database Administrator (USCIS)

540 is looking for a Database Administrator (DBA) to help the federal government #GetShitDone. You'll be building applications using modern open source technologies hosted on AWS. You’ll work with architecture teams to support application and implementation of all Application Programing Interfaces (APIs) and foster an API-Product-Driven design approach. 

PROJECT

You can expect a fast-paced environment in which the team will be providing architecture design, development, security and operations services in support of USCIS Integration Services. You will be helping to assist with the seamless and accurate exchange of information from different systems by facilitating the transfer of data. The portfolio of systems supports millions of applicants as they go through Citizenship and VISA processing. The team you will be joining uses Agile and innovative practices to bring technical solutions to the USCIS mission. USCIS administers the nation's lawful immigration system, safeguarding its integrity and promise by efficiently and fairly adjudicating requests for immigration benefits while protecting Americans, securing the homeland, and honoring our values.

Location: Remote friendly within the continental United States
Citizenship & Clearance Requirement: per client requirements, must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a DHS Public Trust clearance
Education Requirement: Bachelor's Degree

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• 7+ years of experience in database administration
• Experience with Oracle, SQL, Postgres, Pervasive and MySQL
• Experience with AWS Database Services (Aurora, DynamoDB, ElastiCache, etc)
• Experience with ElasticSearch
• Experience executing emergency backups in coordination with other infrastructure operational components
• Experience supporting the development of contingency plans, including disaster recovery and COOP testing, and operation failover testing consisting of documented contingency plans
• Experience migrating databases from a non-production to production environment, as well as migrations of applications and databases between data centers
• Database configuration for Functional Qualification Testing (FQT), regression testing, Independent Test & Evaluation (IT&E), user acceptance testing (UAT), integration testing, database security testing, installation / migration testing, configuration / compatibility testing and performance load / stress testing 
• Routinely evaluate the need to upgrade database servers and application software while determining compatibility with current application versions
• Perform periodic database clean-up and maintenance of training environments in support of end-user training classes

• Computer Science or related degree
• Experience working with the government, specifically with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)
