Database Analyst & Developer

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Cloud SQL Database Administrator (DBA) with over 5 years of hands-on experience in managing and optimizing cloud-based database systems. The ideal candidate should have in-depth knowledge of AWS and Azure environments and be skilled in designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable, highly available, and secure databases.

As a Cloud SQL DBA, you will be responsible for monitoring, optimizing performance, managing security, and ensuring data integrity for cloud databases. You will also work closely with development, operations, and security teams to ensure seamless integration and smooth database operations across multiple cloud platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

• Database Management & Optimization:

  • Manage and maintain SQL databases hosted on AWS and Azure cloud platforms.
  • Ensure database systems meet security, performance, and availability requirements.
  • Implement database performance tuning, indexing, and optimization strategies.
  • Monitor database health and ensure optimal performance through continuous improvement and best practices.

• Cloud Infrastructure & Deployment:

  • Design and deploy cloud-based databases, ensuring scalability, redundancy, and failover support.
  • Automate database deployments and upgrades using cloud-native tools and frameworks.
  • Manage data backups, recovery strategies, and disaster recovery plans.

• Security & Compliance:

  • Implement data security measures, including encryption, access controls, and user management.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI-DSS.

• Monitoring & Troubleshooting:

  • Monitor database performance using cloud-native and third-party tools like CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, and Datadog.
  • Perform root-cause analysis of database issues, applying quick and long-term fixes.
  • Troubleshoot database connectivity, configuration, and performance issues.

• Collaboration & Documentation:

  • Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to ensure seamless database integration in CI/CD pipelines.
  • Create and maintain documentation for database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Experience: 5+ years of SQL DBA experience, including experience with AWS and Azure cloud platforms.
• Certifications: Certifications in cloud platforms such as AWS Certified Database – Specialty, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, or equivalent.

Technical Skills:

• Strong expertise in managing SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or similar relational database systems.
• Hands-on experience with cloud-based databases like Amazon RDS, Aurora, Azure SQL Database, and Azure SQL Managed Instance.
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases like Amazon DynamoDB or Azure Cosmos DB is a plus.
• Experience in backup/recovery, disaster recovery, and HA/DR strategies in a cloud environment.
• Proficiency in database monitoring and management tools such as CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, New Relic, etc.
• Understanding of scripting languages like Python, PowerShell, or Shell for automation.
• Strong knowledge of cloud security practices, encryption, and data protection.
