Database Reliability Engineer II

Database Reliability Engineer II, Costa Mesa, CA

Responsibilities: Maintain the core infrastructure and drive reliability across our databases of our database Systems. Collaborate with engineers in the deployment and scaling of new product features. Guide team (database users) on best practices for performance and stability of database systems. Define and meet service level objectives. Provide technical guidance to development teams, understand the impact of code changes, and help developers write efficient queries. Provide operational support for existing database infrastructure. Initiate performance tuning. Evaluate and recommend enhancements to the current data infrastructure. Mentor junior members of the team.

Qualifications: BACHELOR’S DEGREE (OR FOREIGN EQUIVALENT) IN COMPUTER SCIENCE, OR IN A CLOSELY RELATED FIELD, PLUS 3 YEARS OF WORK EXPERIENCE IN DATA ENGINEERING, OR IN A CLOSELY RELATED OCCUPATION.

Special Requirements: REQUIRED SKILLS: EXPERTISE/KNOWLEDGE OF: 1. Experience with database platforms including MySQL and MSSQL Server. 2. Create and update ETL code (SSIS, AWS Glue or Talend). 3. Ability to use multiple scripting or compiled languages. 4. Knowledge of Amazon EC2/RDS (Aurora). 5. Exposure to NoSQL database technologies such as DynamoDB. MUST POSSESS EXPERTISE/ KNOWLEDGE SUFFICIENT TO ADEQUATELY PERFORM THE DUTIES OF THE JOB BEING OFFERED. EXPERTISE/ KNOWLEDGE MAY BE GAINED THROUGH EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE OR EDUCATION. SUCH EXPERTISE/ KNOWLEDGE CANNOT BE "QUANTIFIED" BY "TIME."
