Job Summary
The Designer position is responsible for developing a wide array of marketing and communications collateral materials (both print and digital) to accurately communicate Dallas Theological Seminary’s image and messaging to both internal and external audiences. The entry-level designer is an innovative, forward-thinking individual, who creatively and collaboratively translates ideas, concepts, and messages into consistently powerful and engaging visual expressions for print and digital platforms. The entry-level designer will work under the supervision of the Lead Design Manager of Marketing & Communications and other more experienced designers to develop and execute creative. This role requires a proactive, responsible individual who is eager to learn, with a commitment to excellence, creativity, flexibility, accountability, and a team spirit are essential, as is a vibrant and growing relationship with Jesus Christ and the willingness to serve in a ministry-focused setting.
Duties/Responsibilities
•
Overseeing all design elements, from the conception to final delivery.
•
Having hands-on experience with Adobe Creative Suite and other design software.
•
Using their strong eye for aesthetics and visual details to ensure a quality final product.
•
Listening to design needs, coming up with ideas and communicating them to other members of the team.
•
Maintaining high standards of quality and making sure only the best work is released to the employer or client.
•
Collaborating across the team to drive up standards of digital creativity.
•
Conceptualize, plan, and produce print, digital, and multimedia projects consistent with the Seminary’s brand and standards.
•
Provide graphic design and layout for print and digital deliverables, including advertising materials, viewbooks, campus signage, campus publications, billboards, banners, brochures, invitations, programs, and flyers (among other items.)
•
Provide graphic design elements for landing pages, web ads, email campaigns, and other digital projects.
•
Review provided materials to determine print worthy file requirements are met and have a clear understanding of pre-press production expectations for all projects to provide accurate files to the printer.

With guidance from the Lead Design Manager of Marketing & Communications and other more experienced designers, develop and uphold processes for the department to take any project from concept through completion.

Perform other duties as assigned by a supervisor.
•
The successful applicant must be familiar with and uphold DTS’s doctrinal positions.
•
The applicant will have excellent relational and communication skills (verbal and written), be self-motivated, organized, and have a passion to not only strategize, but execute the work.

Possess the ability to absorb and apply constructive criticism from peers and internal departments to create excellent materials that meet a variety of needs and audiences
•
Must be able to think big picture and come up with creative ideas having excellent type and layout skills paired with a strong design aesthetic.
•
Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.), and ability to work on the Mac with some PC based programs (Word/Pages, Excel/Numbers, PowerPoint/Keynote) as needed.
•
Must be collaborative, creative, show design initiative and innovation, and have a keen eye for detail and editorial/visual design care.

Excellent time management skills and flexibility are required to meet deadlines, efficiently managing overlapping deadlines and rush projects, producing fresh and current styles while incorporating institution branding guidelines.
•
Must have a strong print background/experience to be able to take a project from concept through packaging for printer and be comfortable with press checks.
•
Must have a strong background in Photoshop, experienced and confident with color correction and image cleanup/manipulation
•
A strong design portfolio of independently completed projects required
•
A self-starter who can work independently and quickly as well as on a team, being responsible in all areas of the project and accountable for their work and the work of other designers.

Education and Experience
•
Four-year Bachelor’s degree in graphic design/communications-related area is required, and 3-5 years of practical experience.
•
Prior experience in a marketing or ad agency setting preferred.
•
Competence in digital marketing and digital advertising, web graphic design.
•
Deep understanding of trends in design across all platforms and channels.
Physical Requirements
•
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
•
Must be able to lift up to 25lbs at a time.
•
Frequent movement around campus and walking between buildings.
