SUMMARY
Special Olympics Texas relies on the generous support of our supporters, including individuals, corporations, foundations, civic groups, grantors, etc. This position will work with our supporters in the region to generate resources to improve the Special Olympics experience for the athletes of Texas.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Maintain current client relationships and identify areas for potential clients
• Contacting potential clients to establish a relationship and meet with them
• Develop new areas for connections and improving the community outreach through various methods to foster a positive image such that companies, schools, foundations, and individuals will make Special Olympics Texas their charity of choice.
• Build the capacity of the area by connecting the community with all aspects of programming
• Seek new corporate sponsors, foundations and individuals to support area and regional competitions and events
• Cultivate major gifts, in-kind donations, and report for each
• Develop a fundraising development plan for current and upcoming years
• Integrate development opportunities into existing programs and events
• Collaborate with programs and volunteer teams to locate and secure venues for fundraising campaigns, area, and regional events
• Work with Volunteer Service Managers to recruit volunteers for competitions and events
• Utilize volunteers and the community to assist in planning and execution of fundraising events
• Assist with Unified Champion Schools® development;
• Communication of organizational goals to regional teams which must include, but are not limited to, best practices, innovation, retention and recruitment
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIRED SKILLS:
Passion for Special Olympics Texas
Screening:Must pass Criminal and National Sex Offender Registry background screening (Required for all staff)
Education:College degree or equitable experience in non-profit fundraising; emphasis on recreation, disability awareness, and business a plus.
Experience:Non-profit experience, development, event planning; budgeting and grant tracking, previous experience with Unified Sports®, Special Olympics a plus.
Knowledge:G Suite; Database programs, event planning; NetSuite experience a plus.
Skills:Strong organizational skill with the ability to manage multiple projects; effective time management, verbal and written skills, public speaking and customer service
Work Schedule:Full time 40+ hours per week; This position’s work schedule will be determined by the demands of the position and may include evenings and weekends. Flexible time is available with prior approval of the supervisor.
Physical Demands:While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand for extended periods of time; occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 20lbs, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; frequently required to stand, reach with hands and arms through full range of motion.
Transportation:Must have their own reliable transportation with a good driving history, valid Texas driver’s license and current insurance.
