About the Children’s Chorus of San Antonio
The Children’s Chorus of San Antonio (CCSA) is one of the region’s premier youth arts organizations, inspiring and transforming young lives through the power of music. Serving over 2,000 youth and their families each season, CCSA produces vibrant performances—often in collaboration with San Antonio’s leading cultural institutions—and delivers innovative community engagement programs that reach youth across the city.
Job Summary
TheDevelopment Directoris responsible for creating and executing a comprehensive nonprofit fundraising strategy to ensure CCSA’s financial sustainability and growth. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic relationship builder with a proven track record in securing major gifts, grants, sponsorships, and event revenue. This role requires an active presence in the community—building meaningful, in-person connections with donors, partners, and stakeholders to deepen relationships and inspire support. The Development Director works closely with the Executive Director, Artistic Director, and staff to align fundraising efforts with CCSA’s artistic vision and strategic priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising Strategy & Leadership
• Develop and implement a multi-year fundraising plan aligned with CCSA’s mission and growth goals, including individual giving, major gifts, corporate partnerships, grants, and special events.
• Work with the Executive Director and Board to set and achieve annual fundraising goals supporting CCSA’s $700,000+ budget and long-term growth, cultivating strong personal connections that inspire sustained and increased investment in our mission.
• Provide leadership to foster a culture of philanthropy across the organization, engaging staff, board members, and volunteers in building authentic relationships with supporters.
Donor Relations & Stewardship
• Build and nurture strong relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners through regular, meaningful engagement that deepens their connection to CCSA’s mission.
• Initiate and maintain ongoing conversations with donors and prospects, ensuring they feel valued, informed, and involved.
• Cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors through intentional engagement strategies.
• Create and implement donor recognition and engagement programs to inspire continued support.
Grant Development & Management
• Collaborate with the Executive Director to research and submit compelling grant proposals to private foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
• Oversee timely submission of grant reports and ensure compliance with funding requirements.
Events & Sponsorships
• Lead the planning and execution of fundraising events that also strengthen donor relationships.
• Secure corporate sponsorships and in-kind contributions for events and programs, maintaining ongoing rapport with sponsors to encourage future support.
Community Engagement
• Represent CCSA at community events, networking opportunities, and arts industry gatherings to expand visibility and cultivate new supporters.
• Collaborate with CCSA staff to integrate fundraising with marketing, communications, and community engagement strategies that keep donors connected to our impact.
Data & Financial Management
• Manage donor database (DonorPerfect) to ensure accurate tracking of contributions, donor interactions, and fundraising metrics.
• Track fundraising performance against key metrics and recommend strategic adjustments as needed.
• Provide regular fundraising reports to the Executive Director and Board.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 3-5 years of experience in leadership, fundraising, and/or donor development, preferably in the San Antonio arts or nonprofit sector.
• Demonstrated success in securing major gifts, grants, and sponsorships.
• Exceptional relationship-building skills with the ability to engage confidently and authentically with donors, sponsors, and community partners.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency with donor database systems (DonorPerfect or similar), Google Suite, and social media platforms, and willingness to learn additional databases or technology tools (Asana).
• Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for concerts, donor events, and community activities.
• Passion for the arts, youth development, and CCSA’s mission.
