Development Engineer

Job Description:

Perform design and development of marine engines. Develop new engineering technology for marine engines, including powertrain and ancillary components. Set and verify part requirements, final Bill of Material management and timing targets for multiple engine programs. Lead the development and prototyping process for assigned product programs. Initiate and verify Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA) and complete Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R) activities. Develop and implement validation test plans for service fixes. Support and drive validation processes on engine dynamometers, test benches and open-water tests. Support technical field service and warranty investigation issues.

Job Requirements:

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with technical coursework in internal combustion engines.
2. 5 years of progressive experience designing, testing, and validating mechanical components.
3. Additional experience and skills must include:
   • Engine dynamometer testing to create internal combustion engine calibration within Atlas or E-Controls software.
   • Optimization of engine control systems for desired performance (PID control systems).
   • Solidworks CAD design and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) with the ability to produce CAD drawings and CAE tools such as Finite Element Analysis and Computational Fluid Dynamics analysis.
   • Managing new product implementation from concept to production and launch.
   • Development, execution, and management of Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R) for parts, systems, and whole assemblies.
   • Data acquisition hardware and systems with the ability to analyze and report on the data collected.
   • Manufacturing processes for casting, machining, and injection molded parts.
   • Hands on experience of complete internal combustion engine build and sub assembly of engine components.
4. 15% domestic and international travel required.
5. Must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
