The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in AWS services, container orchestration, and CI/CD pipelines, with a focus on operational readiness, performance optimization, and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage AWS Key Management System (KMS), including key rotation and data encryption.
  • Create and configure new virtual machines (VMs) to support production, development, and testing environments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (OCIO and development teams) to implement changes and ensure compatibility.
  • Proactively address performance issues by updating software, deploying patches, and maintaining readiness for security compliance.
  • Investigate and resolve critical production issues, such as configuration fixes and hotfix deployments.
  • Install and manage agile task management tools and other applications in AWS environments.
  • Implement and oversee system backup and restoration processes to ensure data reliability.
  • Monitor system health using AWS CloudWatch, addressing any performance or security issues.
  • Copy projects and repositories from Git to OCIO GitLab/GitHub as required.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to users of CI/CD environments, ensuring smooth operations.
  • Deliver weekly reports during DevOps stand-up meetings, including documentation, scripts, and other relevant artifacts.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in DevOps, with 3+ years in AWS cloud environments.
  • Expertise in AWS services, including EC2, S3, IAM, KMS, and RDS.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, and container orchestration using Kubernetes/Docker Swarm.
  • Strong proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, or PowerShell) for automation and system management.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex production issues and deploy effective solutions.
  • In-depth knowledge of IT security practices and compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, NIST, or ISO 27001).
  • Experience with system performance monitoring tools such as AWS CloudWatch.
  • Solid understanding of infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills, with a focus on stakeholder engagement.

Additional Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Clearance: This position requires eligibility to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance as mandated by our federal client. U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency is required.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipeline design and management.
  • Familiarity with database management systems like PostgreSQL, MySQL, or DynamoDB.
  • Knowledge of hybrid cloud solutions and integration with on-premises systems.
  • Strong project management skills, particularly for cloud migration initiatives.
