A Day in the Life as a digital twin configuration specialist

As a Digital Twin Configuration Specialist, you will work closely with client teams to maintain the integrity of digital representations of physical assets and processes within digital twins, ensuring that the models accurately reflect real-world attributes and behavior as physical facilities evolve as a result of capital project and O&M activities. You will also contribute to development and execution of the overall configuration management strategy for a client's digital twin(s) including processes, policies, and standards related to configuration management. They ensure that changes and updates to the twin's configuration are well-managed and aligned with operational goals.

Job Duties

  • Responsible for configuration management and maintenance of one or more digital twins / components.
  • Maintains and enforces configuration management processes, policies, and standards.
  • Manages version control, change requests, and updates to the digital twin's configuration.
  • Collaborates with other stakeholders to ensure the quality and integrity of data used in the digital twin.
  • Maintains the digital representations (models) of physical assets and processes in the twin, ensuring that asset models accurately reflect real-world attributes, behavior, and interactions.
  • Collaborates with domain experts to refine and update model configuration based on changes in the physical environment.
  • Generates reports and documentation to provide visibility into the model's current configuration status.
  • Manages user access permissions and roles within the digital twin platform.
  • Ensures that authorized personnel have appropriate access to relevant twin components.
  • Implements security measures to prevent unauthorized changes to the twin's configuration.
  • Contributes to the development of testing procedures and scenarios to validate the accuracy of the digital twin's configuration.
  • Conducts tests to ensure that changes and updates do not introduce errors or inconsistencies.
  • Collaborates with asset modelers and data curators to verify the correctness of the twin's representation.
  • Continually seeks improvements to drive efficiency and productivity in client's digital twin environment.

Required Experience

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, or equivalent work experience in engineering model configuration management.
  • 1+ years of experience working in a configuration management role with engineering models.
  • Experience with Hexagon, Aveva, or similar engineering design and modeling toolsets / digital twins.
  • Experience working in a process / manufacturing environment (e.g., petrochemicals, semiconductor manufacturing, industrial manufacturing, renewable energy, power & utilities).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Adaptability.
  • Lean mentality.
