How to Apply
Submit your application and register to take the Diplomatic Security Special Agent Test (DSSAT) at www.pearsonvue.com/dssat. Please do not apply through USAJobs.
Visit www.pearsonvue.com/DSSAT.
Create a web account.
Follow the instructions to complete the DSSAT online application. (Note: Your application is saved automatically as you proceed through it. You can interrupt the application process and return to it until you submit it, after which you will not be able to make changes.)
Answer all self-assessment questions;
Include work history for the past 10 years; and,
Complete the Personal Narrative questions and Statement of Interest. (See the Required Documents section for more information.).
Review and submit the application.
We strongly recommend that you confirm all the information in your application is accurate and complete before submitting, as you will not be able to make changes to the application after it is submitted.
After you complete and submit the above, this becomes your online application and will be used to evaluate your qualifications for this position.
Your application must be complete and submitted in order to register for the DSSAT test.
You have six months to complete the application process outlined in this announcement and take the DSSAT. If you have not taken the test within six months, you must restart the application process.
Select an appointment to take the DSSAT at one of Pearson Vue’s test centers. The DSSAT is an important part of the selection process that includes job knowledge, English expression, and situational judgement necessary to work as a Diplomatic Security Special Agent

If your DSSAT results qualify, you will receive an email from the Bureau of Diplomatic Security’s Human Resources Office requesting documentation by a specific deadline. Please add the Department of State domain name (*.state.gov) as a trusted sender and check your spam/junk mail folder to ensure receipt of email messages regarding your candidacy. It can take up to four months from the date of your test to receive an email since test results are delivered to the Department of State periodically. We appreciate your patience.
It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure all required documents are attached (not linked) and the application is complete before the closing deadline of this announcement. Documents sent via link will not be accepted.  Any missing required documents or incomplete applications will disqualify the application from further consideration.
