This job oversees all aspects of business development including driving profitable growth and/or sustainment of market share in all major service lines and centers of excellence within hospital and clinic areas through the creation, implementation, or expansion of product line initiatives; development and progression of external physician relationships; and identification of new markets, niches or segments. Oversees strategic planning, competitive analysis, successful sales, and physician relations. Develops both the long-term strategic plan for the destination center, digital center and community health center business development division as well as the short-term growth strategies and tactics and maintains appropriate rhythms throughout the year for strategy execution along with achieving current shorter-term results. Works with both internal partners and external customers to develop and sell exportable and commercially viable solutions and leads a multi-state regional sales team of service line and center of excellence growth professionals. Communicates and interprets organizational and departmental mission goals and objectives to all areas of responsibility and provides direction in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of activities.
Education

Required - Bachelor's degree in healthcare, business administration or related field.

Preferred - Master's degree in healthcare, business administration or related field.

Work Experience

Required - 5 years of experience successfully managing complex sales, business development and/or marketing.

  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to develop and present proposals clearly and professionally.
  • Ability to manage customer expectations and meet customer satisfaction and department/service line metrics.
  • Strong financial acumen, including strategic and analytical skills and the ability to analyze complex business issues.
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to identify benefits of services and/or programs from the client perspective and lead the development of customized action plans to drive value for the customer.
  • Strong marketing skills and ability to track industry trends.
  • Strong project management/organization skills and ability to estimate cost/budgets and manage/prioritize competing demands.
  • Excellent conflict resolution, interpersonal, and cross-organizational collaboration skills and ability to operate effectively in complex organizations.
  • Ability to travel throughout market territory greater than 50% of time and work a flexible schedule including nights and some weekends.

Job Duties
  • Develops the business development strategic plan and tactical implementation for the system's destination center, community health, diversification and digital health and manages complete growth strategy and execution of growth plans with team of sales professionals.
  • Develops and implements outreach plans using existing analytic tools, reports progress on the success of these plans regularly to key stakeholders and plans for the successful alignment of external physicians with team of sales professionals.
  • Manages, plans and drives growth of referrals and transfers and outpatient net revenue and discharges with team of sales professionals over a multi-state geographic footprint and leads all centers of excellence, services lines and hospital growth initiatives for the system and develops strategic selling solutions within a multi-state territory.
  • Manages and plans for the successful deployment and sale of digital solutions and the successful creation of new partnerships with team of sales professionals and works collaboratively with others to develop additional growth solutions and expand growth portfolio.
  • Manages operational profitability, organizational growth and the physical and technology infrastructure of department.
  • Manages, trains and develops department staff.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

The incumbent has no occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases.

Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
