About the Role

Caribou is looking for an experienced individual with 10+ years of governance, control and loan review experience in auto lending. You will be responsible for working closely with various lending, credit and servicing teams to develop policies, procedures as well as establish a loan review process to ensure ongoing loan compliance with lending policies and procedures:

  • Work closely with lending and credit teams develop and publish underwriting policies and procedures 
  • Work closely with compliance and legal teams to ensure appropriate regulatory and legal requirements are incorporated into underwriting policies
  • Create procedures for auditing and enforcing third party vendor’s performance and SLAs
  • Create procedures, timelines and standards by which loans and services will be reviewed and enforced for compliance with policies and procedures
  • Create procedures for feedback loop and action steps
  • Prepare training materials and schedule training sessions on new policies and procedures
  • Work with technology and engineering teams to identify and implement system requirements for effective deployment and distribution of policies and procedures
  • Maintain and update policies and procedures as needed

About You

You’ve been a successful governance and loan review professional in the auto finance business working for banks, finance companies or other startups. You are proactive, and are able to work at a high growth startup. You:

  • Have extensive experience with governance, loan review and credit control processes. 10+ years preferred
  • Strong understanding of consumer lending products. Auto preferred
  • Strong understanding of end to end lending process, including score cards, servicing and collections
  • Comfortable working with various systems
  • Ability to work across multiple teams
  • Experienced in building and implementing oversight processes including audit framework to enforce compliance with SLAs and SOWs terms
  • Experienced with writing policies and procedures across various products
  • Experienced with providing ongoing training 
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Strong management skills and directing others
  • Strong process management experience 
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Able to problem solve
  • Team player 
  • Able to work with company wide teams

  • This role can be based out of Caribou offices in Washington, DC or Denver, CO. Alternatively, this role may work remotely from a state where Caribou operates*. However, this role will require attendance at occasional in-person team meetings. As a result, candidates must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to be eligible for this position.
