Description
The Director of Operations is responsible for the divisions' strategic and day to day tactical operational functions related to warehouse activities, automation, and shipping. This position has responsibility for product food safety. During the peak December holiday shipping season, this position may assume additional managerial responsibilities and may be required to work alternate shifts. This position is based in Atlanta, Georgia.

- Provide performance measurement for labor productivity, quality of work, employee management (i.e. safety, turnover, etc.) and cost per unit so continued improvement can be tracked and communicated.
- Manage the storage process and facilities so that the peak quality and useful life of materials is maximized.
- Reviews operational requirements, problems, and opportunities, seeking effective business solutions through improvements in automated and non-automated components of new or changed processes
- Ensuring all Safe Quality Food (SQF) requirements are met in all facilities, supporting the SQF practitioners and delivering safe, legal, and high-quality products.
- Contributes to the development and enhancement of customer and stakeholder relationships
- Change Management - Assesses, analyses, creates, documents, presents and implements changes based on requests for change
- Problem Management - Undertakes and reviews actions to investigate and resolve problems in systems, processes and services
- Monitors progress against agreed quality and performance criteria
- Hands-on Manager with day-to-day functional responsibility for WES, MHE, and WCS systems running automation and execution of functions in the warehouse
- Work with Support and Contractor Teams for support and issue analysis activities
- Functional responsibility for integration between WES, WCS, MHE, WMS, and host systems
- Plan and manage the receipt, vendor compliance, quality control inspection, labeling, storage, picking and shipping of Direct to Consumer, Stores and Wholesale orders.
- Effectively communicate with multiple departments and shifts to ensure proper receipt, storage, picking, transfer and delivery of materials.
- Plan and manage the storage and picking of all orders.
- Manage shift responsibilities for warehousing, receiving, and oversee off-shift activities through material supervisors on alternate shifts as required.
- Plan, staff and operate at or below budgeted unit cost for assigned departments.
- Provide an excellent level of timely delivery and put-away of gift and components to customers.
- Financial budgeting and forecasting for multiple departments.
- Forecast seasonal storage, equipment and employee requirements.
- Train and develop employees. Ensure employees understand expectations and provide the level of service required by the manufacturing departments.
- With assistance from Human Resources, carry out performance management actions and conducting disciplinary actions if required.
- Determine labor requirements and communication of those requirements to department managers and Human Resources.
- Promote a culture of safety, following all documentation and reporting responsibilities and actively participating in the Safety Committee.
- Monitor and provide information to Security on issues of concern.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's Degree in business and or commensurate experience is required.
- 5-7+ years of Operational Warehousing experience; ideally in both Ecommerce and Assembly
- 3+ years of experience in an automated distribution facility
- 3+ years of experience work with WMS, WES and/or WCS systems.
- Preferred experience in a food industry
- Preferred experience in multi-temperature Warehousing and Distribution.
- Proficient with Microsoft tools such as MS Excel, MS Word and MS Access.
- Previous experience with managing large warehouse teams.
- Experience with hiring, training, motivating and resolving employee relations issues.
- Demonstrated ability to write reports, business correspondence, procedural manuals and intra-company memos and emails.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business technical procedures and policies.
- Possess strong analytical and communication skills with a proven ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Demonstrate effective means to present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and teammates.
- Experience leading and following safety and security policies and procedures as well as sanitation and quality policies.
- Ability to manage multiple task simultaneously
