Director of Research Engineering - USA

We are looking for a Technical Lead / Manager with extensive experience in leading ML/AI teams. You will be at the forefront of building generative AI products to shape the future of gaming.

Minimum Qualifications

• BA/BS degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar technical field
• 8+ years of experience as an engineering leader in natural language processing or adjacent AI domains
• Deep knowledge of machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in NLP/speech synthesis/speech recognition or adjacent fields
• 1+ years of experience training and serving LLMs (6B parameters and larger) such as LLaMA or Mixtral
• 2+ years of experience in a technical leadership role, leading ML/AI teams and setting technical direction
• 2+ years of experience working with High-performance Computing infrastructure (GPUs, TPUs, etc)
• Ability to foster innovation by leading teams with a growth mindset of experimentation, learning, and iteration
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to represent complex business or technical concepts with executive leadership

Responsibilities

• Scale systems by rebuilding or supporting the existing Inworld tech stack to meet the needs of users
• Lead cross-functional efforts to improve quality, reliability and performance of AI-powered features
• Grow the team, develop leads, and ensure high-quality work

The base salary range for this full-time position is $300,000 - $400,000. In addition to base pay, total compensation includes equity and benefits. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location, level, and additional factors, including competencies, experience, and business needs. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
