Job Description
The Position:
As the Director of Professional Services Solutioning you will manage a team of Solution Architects at Uplight to drive the solution design, architecture, and high-level specifications for custom projects to help meet the unique needs of our Utility and non-utility clients. In this role, you will drive initiatives with sales and clients to clearly define the needs, options, solution approach, scope and costs of new projects at varying points in the sales cycle. You will utilize your knowledge of client and Uplight technical environments and Uplight capabilities to define cost-effective and smart technical solutions that meet clients business needs. This role is a player-coach role, where you will both manage the team, spearhead initiatives on behalf of the group across the company, and work on some client projects directly. You will help to manage internal resources charged with executing the work to time and acceptance criteria.

Salary Range: $180,000 to $190,000 USD
In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the approximate annual base compensation range is listed above. The actual offer, reflecting the total compensation package and benefits, will be determined by a number of factors including the applicant's experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity among our team.

What you will contribute:
- Lead the team in developing technical product expertise and establishing credibility with clients as a trusted advisor and knowledgeable guide to what is possible beyond existing standard Uplight solutions and services.
- Drive the solution design, architecture, and high-level specifications for client services projects, including both implementation/data-related projects as well as application and feature development projects.
- Work closely with Sales and clients to surface and define client needs and constraints.
- Lead technical workshops with clients - develop and deliver content to guide the client through the solution, technical, and product feature options
- Create proposed solutions are supportable, viable, and will meet the needs of the client, as well as define the costs, timing and acceptance criteria that will ensure successful delivery and resourcing. Work with Implementation, Product and Engineering teams to accept and begin work.
- Develop Project Engagement Documents and/or scopes of work to specify all aspects of delivery including UI/UX definition, software development milestones, data mapping, configuration, backend front end integration.
- Collaborate with project management, Implementation, Product Management and Engineering to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Define, deploy and oversee an improved process for solutioning non-standard projects at Uplight, including , but not limited to:
- Stronger, faster client interactions early in the process packaged scopes of work that can serve as templates for repeatable services work.
- Improved data and tracking of solutions process, scopes, time and costs estimates to improve future projects and scale the knowledge built in the team beyond strong individual performance and expertise.
- Working with finance and legal to build stronger project-based contracting that reduces risk and improves Uplight's ability to execute to expectations.
- Track and manage work progress and completion of the team. We have a team of high performers who are looking to advance as a group to a higher contribution to Uplight's overall performance and influence in the company.
- Travel up to 20%
What You Bring to Uplight:
- Strong alignment and passion for the Uplight values and mission
- 8-10 years experience managing solutions architects for large enterprise deployments, ideally SaaS B2B enterprise applications
- Technical strength, including:
- Strong background in data integration, including knowledge of data model/database design concepts and working knowledge of SQL
- Experience with web integration including iframes, widgets, SSO
- Demonstrated strengths in communication among technical and non-technical groups, including:
- Experience working with multiple groups, both internally and externally - clients, engineering, and product management teams.
- Comfortable, professional and credible in front of clients, including the ability to use both persuasion and reason to guide their decision processes
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Leadership
- Proven ability to lead and manage teams of high performing technical and non-technical professionals. Your direct reports would all say that you accelerated their careers. Your peers would say that you were a strong peer leader, who they looked to for guidance and growth.
