Job Summary

As an/a (508 Compliance Review Specialist) at Aetos Systems, you will be responsible for

Review all appropriate electronic documents for Section 508 compliance. Assist the Education specialists, other partners and employees with developing Section 508-compliant products. Recommend and implement a workflow system to ensure Section 508 compliance is part of the document and report publication development process.

Assess digital products for Section 508 Compliance and collaborate with content/product authors/developers to advise as well as assist with remediating their content/products to ensure accessibility. Inform customers on Section 508 standards and the use of Section 508 tools.

Analyze, test, and perform compliance of all products to applicable 508 standards.

Make recommendations to meet compliance requirements. Stay abreast of 508 compliance standards to be the organizational Subject Matter Expert (SME).

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Have a thorough understanding of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
  • Proficient in working efficiently in a remote setting and adaptable to working with peers across multiple time zones. Must be able to work at a standard computer setup (PC or MAC) for 40+ hours per week, with or without accommodation.
  • Knowledge of 508 requirements for applications and the ability to apply principles of accessibility to create Section 508 presentations.
  • Familiarity with 508 concepts, including accessible forms and tables.
  • Experience with Section 508 testing tools, such as Jaws or ACC Verify, and CompTIA Security+ or Security+ CE in a work environment.
  • Ability to apply 508 best practices, along with knowledge of various testing methods.
  • In-depth knowledge of web-based applications and documents.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using ANDI and Adobe Acrobat for 508 compliance testing and remediation.
  • Strong work ethic and a commitment to providing excellent client service.
  • Effective communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented and proactive, with an innovative mindset, willingness to learn new methods, and the ability to accept constructive feedback gracefully and enthusiastically. Must demonstrate good judgment and initiative.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively with content and design teams. Must respond to assignments promptly, adhere to project timelines, and actively participate in cross-team collaboration for multiple projects with competing deadlines.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. Mandatory cultural sensitivity and representation of equity in products.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to pass a background investigation.
  • Must live close to (within commuting distance) to a NASA Center
  • Requires a BA/BS in a relevant field and a minimum of 2 years of experience in Section 508 remediation and testing OR an equivalent combination of education and extensive experience.
