THE ROLE: EHS/5S Coordinator

*****THIS POSITION IS ONSITE IN SHEPHERDSVILLE, KY, NOT REMOTE!*****

An entry-level Safety Coordinator with a focus on 5S plays a crucial role in ensuring a safe and organized work environment for associates within our organization. The coordinator will support the EHS Director and Operations Leadership’s safety initiatives. This role combines safety knowledge, expertise along with the principles of 5S (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) to create a workplace that prioritizes safety, efficiency, and organization. The Safety Coordinator is responsible for assisting the EHS Director in developing and implementing safety policies, procedures, and practices while also promoting and sustaining 5S principles in the workplace.  The person in this role is expected to maintain confidentiality while providing a high level of service to Associates.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Injury Investigation / OSHA Recordkeeping: Assist with gathering injury data. Ensure all data is thoroughly entered into our recordkeeping system.  Review all Injury Prevention Reports (IPRs) and assist operations team to ensure all details are captured.  Maintain all OSHA Recordkeeping Logs (OSHA Forms 300, 301 and 300A).
  • Safety Management: Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and guidelines in accordance with industry regulations and best practices. Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards. Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions. Maintain safety records and documentation, including incident reports and safety training records.
  • 5S Implementation: Lead and facilitate 5S initiatives within the organization to improve workplace organization, cleanliness, and efficiency. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish 5S standards and practices, ensuring consistency throughout the organization. Conduct 5S audits and assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of 5S implementation and make continuous improvements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with teams to identify opportunities for continuous improvement in safety and 5S practices. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to implement improvements effectively.
  • New Hire Orientation / Onboarding: Work with the People Team to ensure NHO safety presentations are current. Also assist with being the content subject matter expert (SME) and assist with presenting the material in NHO when needed.
  • Training and Communication: Assist in organizing and scheduling safety training sessions for associates. Maintain training records and certifications for associates. Assist with providing training to associates on safety protocols, 5S principles, and best practices.  Support EHS Director in conducting safety and 5S awareness programs and workshops to enhance associate understanding and engagement. Training courses may consist of but not limited to - Safe Work Methods (SWM’s), Vertical Reciprocating Conveyor (VRC), Hazardous Communication (Haz Com), Injured Associate Process (IEP), Lockout Tagout (LOTO), Power Industrial Truck Operation (PITO), First Aid Responder, Yard Control, Safety 101, New Hire Orientation.
  • Injury Data Analysis: Work with operations analyst to ensure key injury data metrics are captured. Work with EHS Director to verify data points are accurate and assist with telling the story from the slides.
  • Communication and Reporting: Communicate safety and 5S performance metrics and goals to management and associates. Prepare and deliver regular safety and 5S reports to Leadership.
