The EHS Manager will be based in Fremont, CA. In this position, you will report to the EHS Director. The selected candidate will assist with development, implementation and improvement of policies, programs and initiatives to ensure the health, safety and well-being of our employees, contractors and visitors to our sites as well as the communities in which we operate. Additionally, they will support the leadership team and key stakeholders to ensure compliance with all applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations. They act as the "USA Safety Champion" driving the continuous development of a world-class safety culture. They will also support our efforts to measure and minimize our environmental impact.

Here is a glimpse of what you'll do
  • Provides local (USA) strategic leadership of environmental, health and safety initiatives and programs, driving performance improvement and strengthening the safety culture.
  • Supports the EHS Director in developing and executing the company EH&S strategy globally to drive world-class EH&S performance across all sites.
  • Brings USA-specific safety knowledge, expertise and advice into the EHS team and helps ensure we meet all USA (and in particular California) safety regulations.
  • Supports the global EH&S compliance programs worldwide. Helps identify and implement standardized EH&S programs, best-in-class processes and KPIs worldwide.
  • Manages the USA EH&S function. Provides direction on EH&S matters to all USA operations. Assists with establishing USA policies and procedures to achieve goals while reducing liability. Keeps abreast of the changing USA regulatory EH&S climate and advises on and plans for impact.
  • Supports all USA management and staff in understanding their EHS obligations, and assists them in managing and meeting those obligations.
  • Supports the Facilities Manager on all aspects of Facilities safety across Fremont and Tennessee facilities, implements and manages a safe working environment for all workers, contractors and visitors at these facilities in accordance with OSHA and CAL/OSHA standards.
  • Local expert in our EHS Management System and online software platform -must become local expert, superuser, and trainer.
  • Extensive EHS training -required to manage and conduct all USA EHS in-house training

Here is some of what you'll need (required)
  • M.S, Environmental or Safety Engineering Degree or equivalent / EHS related subject.
  • Minimum 5 years of industrial EH&S experience, preferably in manufacturing, construction or an area with electricity exposure.
  • Deep understanding of OSHA / CAL/OSHA standards and safety regulations.
  • Previous experience in developing, implementing and improving EHS Management Systems underISO45001 standard.
  • Ability to travel independently to sites across USA, hold and maintain unrestricted driver's license.
  • Experience / training in internal audit against ISO45001.
  • Have or be willing to acquire First Aid qualifications.
  • Strong passion for environment and safety.
  • Strong knowledge of local, state and federal EH&S regulations and guidance.
  • Skilled communicator and influencer across all levels of an organization.
  • Excellent written and spoken ability in English, can present at any level internally and externally.
  • Must be able to draft clear, coherent policy and process, training materials, technical and management reporting.
  • Culturally aware and flexible -can deal with teams and people of all cultural backgrounds and drive cultural change in a sensitive manner. Can relate to and communicate well with CEO level to field workers.
  • Tenacity and willingness to keep working to reach our goals.
  • Strong computer literacy including MS Office suite, good Excel skills, experience with EHS MS platforms and willingness / ability to learn ours to expert level.
  • Work well in a small team of EHS staff, but also very capable of self-motivation and direction.


Here are a few of our preferred experiences
  • Passion for solar or renewable energy.
  • Strong knowledge of PV technology and its applications.
  • Strong knowledge of LV/HV electrical safety.
  • Hands-on experience with photovoltaic tracking solar systems a plus
  • Accredited environmental, safety or Industrial Hygiene professional(eg CHST/CSP).
  • Experience in effecting and coordinate cultural change.
  • Environmental management system experience / training in internal audit against ISO14001.
