The Drivetrain Group harnesses a legacy of more than 100 years as an industry innovator in transmission and all-wheel drive technology. The group leverages this understanding of powertrain clutching technology to develop interactive control systems and strategies for all types of torque management.

BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for "dynamic, results driven" individual to join our team as an Electric Drive Innovation (EDI) Intern at our Noblesville Technical Center (NTC) in Noblesville, Indiana.

In this role, and under the direct supervision of a Development Engineer in the EDI team, the EDI Intern will support development of software tools and analysis process and standards. This will include a variety of applications such as research, development, testing, and documentation.

Key Accountabilities:

• Develop engineering software tools using MatLab and Simulink
• Investigate tool development needs leveraging latest software technology
• Improve user experience of engineering software tools
• Develop new processes and methods for analyzing electric motor designs
• Investigate new methods for analysis leveraging new and existing software analysis tools

Education & Experience:

• Graduate or PhD student, majoring in Mechanical, Electrical, or Materials Engineering is required
• Desire to work in the automotive industry
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to solve problems efficiently and effectively
• Analytical, technical, and statistical skills
• Ability to work well in a team environment
• Works under general supervision (self-motivated)
• Good knowledge base of engineering theories and electric machine design
• MatLab & Simulink experience
• Python experience preferred
• Electromagnetic FEA proficiency with ANSYS Maxwell or similar codes
• Good understanding of motor control theory for brushless DC electric machines
