Electrical Construction Manager

Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Manager to oversee and manage construction projects from inception to completion. This person will be responsible for overseeing multiple projects simultaneously. The construction manager will ensure compliance with all national and local procedures, regulations, and codes, and will provide progress updates to appropriate management channels on a regular basis. Your key responsibilities will include budgeting, organization, implementation, scheduling of projects and coaching the next leaders to excellence. Objectives of this role • Oversee and direct construction projects from conception to completion • Prepare and manage estimates, budgets, timetables, and resources • Ensure that all construction activities align with the established timeline and budget • Work closely with various stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution • Provide direction to ensure that quality standards are being met • Liaise with engineers, architects, general contractors and others working on a project • Identify, mitigate, and track recurring construction issues • Be communicative, supportive, engender trust and respect Responsibilities • Visit sites regularly during construction — including bid walks, preconstruction walks, in-progress visits, punch walks, and closeouts — and attend status and coordination meetings • Conduct and document quality assurance and safety inspections throughout the construction process • Respond efficiently and effectively to work delays, emergencies, and other project disruptions • Coordinate and direct employees and subcontractors • Meet contractual conditions of performance • View the work progress on daily basis • Prepare internal and external reports pertaining to job status • Plan ahead to prevent problems and resolve any emerging ones Required skills and qualifications • Licensed Journeyman Electrician • Strong analytical mind for cost management and minimizing waste • Strong communication skills to lead a diverse team and the ability to communicate to the team • Proven work experience in construction management • Understanding of all facets of the construction process • Familiarity with construction management software packages • Ability to see the “big picture” • Excellent time and project management skills • Ability to delegate and train successfully • Set targets, objectives and responsibilities for all supervised staff • Knowledge of construction methods and technologies and an ability to interpret technical drawings and contracts • Knowledge of building-code requirements and scheduling methods • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with an eye for quality • Enforce safety procedures, minimize risk, ensure use of PPE Preferred skills and qualifications • BS degree in construction management, engineering or related field • Professional certification, such as CCM (certified construction manager), AC (associate constructor), or CPC (certified professional constructor) • Working knowledge of green building practices Administration/Reporting: • Weekly reports internally and to GC • Encourage and train foremen and PMs to submit and review weekly reports • Get up to speed on every project. Develop a schedule for each. Ensure Foremen and Crew are up to speed. • Increase efficiency, camaraderie and professionalism among PMs, foremen and crews • Create crew schedule weekly. • Ensure materials/equipment on jobs and preparedness • Adhere to project budget, schedule and safety • Ensure every project has a safety program that is strictly adhered to with paper and/or electronic reporting • Safety Program – develop, document, execute (OSHA filings) • Attend and prepare for meetings Field: • Help develop a QC plan and program • Perform site visits, QC walk-throughs, review progress against schedule • Mitigate loss. • Develop a zero tolerance for loss and rework. Coaching and Training: • Build trust, respect, confidence and camaraderie among foremen, PMs and crew. Teamwork is a verb at DME.
