Electrician

Overview The Electrician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in residential, commercial, and school settings. The Electrician will ensure that all work is performed in compliance with local and national electrical codes and safety regulations. while ensuring all students, staff, and the community are provided a safe, attractive, clean, and healthy environment for learning and work. Qualifications • Valid New York City Journeyman Electrician License or New York State equivalent. • Strong knowledge of NEC (National Electrical Code) and NYC Building Codes. • High School Diploma or equivalent. • New York State Driver's License. • Ability to commute between school sites. • 2-5 years' experience in electrical experience preferred. Responsibilities • Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. • Troubleshoot electrical issues and diagnose problems to determine the best course of action. • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to plan electrical installations. • Ensure that all work is completed according to electrical codes and safety standards. • Collaborate with other tradespeople and contractors on construction and renovation projects. • Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on electrical systems and equipment. • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including proper handling and disposal of materials. • Keep accurate records of work performed and materials used. • Stay updated on industry trends, codes, and best practices. Skills and Traits: • Basic mechanical and electrical aptitude. • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment. • Physical requirements include stooping, standing, walking, and climbing stairs/ladders. • Ability to lift 50 lbs Staff and reporting relationships The Electrician reports to the Director of Maintenance. Compensation Initial salary offers for this position range from $25 - $40 per hour. Salaries are determined using an equitable compensation scale that accounts for years of experience and levels of attained education.
