Your Role

We're seeking highly motivated Software Engineers to develop innovative driver monitoring technology designed to enhance the safety and comfort of the vehicle cabin. Driver monitoring is a new and rapidly growing area that provides life-saving products such as driver drowsiness/attention monitoring or seat belt recognition. Driver monitoring fits within Aptiv's overall effort within interior sensing, which also includes features such as seat occupancy monitoring, gesture recognition as well as multiple other convenience features.

As a Software Engineer in our team, you will work with System engineers and Software Architects as part of a global engineering team to bring the product vision for the next generation of driver monitoring innovations to reality.

You will facilitate the development of Driver Monitoring software by:

• Creating robust and reusable high-level software code implementing driver monitoring features using C++, and Python languages on a variety of target platforms including PCs and embedded SoCs

• Efficiently integrating ML models that realize core driver monitoring functions; as needed process the ML outputs into high-level features.

• Work with DevOps and test teams to improve software development efficiency through effective use of AI and automation

• Supporting Software Architects to define system architecture.

• Ensuring high code quality of developed software

Your Background

Key ingredients for succeeding in this role are your:

• Bachelor or Master's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field

• C++ programming skills

• Basic knowledge of programming for embedded systems

• Good knowledge of SW engineering tools and familiarity with general technical documentation

• Very good communication skills in English in written and spoken form

Additional points for:

• 5+ years of experience writing software in multiple languages including C and Python

• 2+ years of experience working in an Agile development team

• Familiarity with structured software development processes (CI/CD, Automotive SPICE) and tools (e.g. JIRA, Confluence, Polarion, GIT, etc.)

• Experience working within a multi-regional or multi-site development team

• Experience working with distributed software architectures
