Job Description

This position is responsible for maintenance and configuration of applications used within the Energy Management System (EMS), specifically Automatic Generation Control (AGC).

Duties may include:

General EMS support duties including periodic callout support; SCADA data maintenance; ICCP administration; Pi/Historian use and support; building program interfaces, creating complex algorithms, and maintenance scripts; other EMS related applications and interfacing with customers.

Position requires knowledge and experience supporting an EMS (Energy Management System), SCADA (in the scope of an EMS), and Automatic Generation Control applications.

Understanding of power operations and telemetry technology is of benefit.

Experience with OSII Monarch is preferred but not required. Familiarity with Unix/Linux/Windows systems. Position also requires initiative, and teamwork with a chance to lead department initiatives and/or customer projects. Familiarity of regulatory requirements applicable to the Power Utility industry. Oral and written communication skills. Individual should be detailed oriented while also being able to see the big picture.

Job Duties

  • Work collaboratively with departments to effectively communicate progress and performance.
  • Identify trends and root causes of issues, determines solutions, and makes recommendations for management consideration.
  • Prepares written or oral reports and conduct presentations.
  • Assess client requirements.
  • Coordinates work with other departments.
  • Perform as a project leader for specific projects.
  • Acts as a primary liaison to client organizations for specific projects.
  • Administers and reviews work performed by consultants and technicians.
  • Analyzes and resolves problems.
  • Responsible for planning, scheduling, and monitoring projects.
  • Occasional contacts with vendors of software, equipment, or services.
  • Occasional travel to industry functions and other Client facilities.
  • Ability to work effectively using the services of various organizational groups within Client organization.
  • Depending on assignment, frequent requirement to work with confidential information.
  • Understand and follow the software development life cycle (SDLC).

  • Strong programming documentation skills

Requirements

Education

  • Completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum, an International Engineering Alliance (IEA) recognized institution, ABET Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA), or any state or internationally recognized PE registration.

Experience

  • Five (5) years full time experience actively engaged in engineering practice. Must have demonstrated the successful accomplishment of work of the nature defined for the job of Senior Engineer.
  • Promotion to Level 2 requires a minimum of two years of experience at Level 1; demonstrated capability to perform advanced and more difficult work as determined by the supervisor.
  • Promotion to Senior Level requires a minimum of three years of experience at Level 2; is fully competent in all aspects of functional area of assignment and as such would be recognized as a specialist in area of assignment and may have periodic or occasional lead responsibilities.
